Why Leitrim

The Innovation and Enterprise Programme

The Innovation and Enterprise Programme (IEP) is a joint cross border initiative between Leitrim and Omagh with the aim of supporting the creation and development of innovative/technology-oriented businesses in the Leitrim and Omagh areas.

The Innovation and Enterprise Programme received £2.27 million, part-financed by the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The Programme is led by Omagh District Council and the partners are Leitrim County Council, Leitrim County Enterprise Fund, Leitrim County Enterprise Board and Omagh Enterprise Company, developed by the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN) through their Multi-Annual Plan.

Through the programme two state-of-the-art Innovation Centres will be developed, one in Leitrim and one in Omagh, which will provide facilities for 35 early/new and expanding businesses. It is expected that up to 250 jobs will be created between the two centres by the end of the three year programme. The project will also provide business advisory services, including specialist consultancy, mentoring and cross-border network events.
